Love over hate

The body has become ill and in need of healing that can only come from God. Yes…the purpose of the church has gotten disrupted. Christ followers have been deceived into following specific agendas instead of doing the work of God. “And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God” (Hebrews 13:16).

So why haven’t pastors protected their flock? The desire to expand their influence outside the church has outweighed their mandate to do so. “Shepherd and guide and protect the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not [motivated] for shameful gain, but with wholehearted enthusiasm” (1 Peter 5:2). God knew this would happen and that is why this scripture exists.

Who has the control

The church has taken on the role of victim and the show simply gets played over and over.  They are driven by issues and easily drawn into confrontation. The ambitious, with plans for self-gain have wielded control on unsuspecting hearers. Secularists using these tactics is not surprising. There has been an unbelievable number of people willing to risk their livelihood. People are finding themselves embroiled in controversy. The fact that they do not know where it originated or the messenger they are standing in agreement with is perplexing. In this day, the damaging impact has not been blunted by the church. It has been insecure-seeking the approval of the world.

Fruit of Love

A sinful society needs more than a place to hear music and motivational speech. Godly engagement is missing in many churches. Now is the time for church leaders to repent and change the overhyped, melodrama-filled services into times of prayer. Jesus gave us a specific description of the church. “It is written,” he said to them, “‘My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it ‘a den of robbers” (Matthew 21:13). Many church leaders have gotten this right, but to those who have not…they will have to answer for enabling or supporting an environment where people are being robbed. Time, money, and spiritual gifts are being wasted and stolen. Let there be true Love, a place where hope for great things in this world and the one to come, abounds.

Don’t open the door to strangers

Anger can be confusing. When misguided, the eagerness to react can get you into trouble without realizing it. The emotion is an open door welcoming the strangest of ideas, foreign to reason. Anger causes you to allow someone else’s vision to supersede yours. There is a real possibility that it is being used against you. And this is how it can happen –

  • Person of influence introduces an issue
    • Crafty/cunning scheme done for their own benefit without regard for others
  • You choose a side
    • Anger and lies are used to persuade you
  • You bring others with you
    • Negative actions create a movement…you become a secondary messenger

If you are uplifting, celebrating, or promoting the expression of hate over LOVE – make a change.

The morning is here and it’s time to SHINE

Wake up and see with clear eyes. You are not benefiting from hate. The illusion will fade and the one who instigated those feelings will fall away leaving you with nothing.

Choose to be an Ambassador of HOPE. “That which has been is that which will be [again], And that which has been done is that which will be done again. So there is nothing new under the sun” (Ecclesiastes 1:9). Every issue we see today has been seen in the past. Don’t stay angry-be hopeful. Unite with believers and get busy doing good. Search the bible and learn how God’s people as imperfect as they were, cared about looking after others. The issues of the day are mere distractions.
